[Dr Brundtland has announced a new executive director at WHO/HTP, the
cluster to which the essential drug programme belongs. From a memo to
all staff.
Thanks to Dr Suzuki for being a good manager over the last years, and
welcome to the first African Exec Director at WHO/EDM! WB]
Dr Yasuhiro Suzuki has been on secondment to WHO, from the Government
of
Japan, for the last four years as an Executive Director. He will be
returning to Government service with his home country at the end of
this
month. Dr Suzuki has made an excellent contribution to the work of WHO
over the past four years, both in providing high quality leadership in
two different clusters and as an invaluable member of the Cabinet.
Dr Anarfi Asamoa-Baah will move to the position of Executive Director,
Health Technologies and Pharmaceuticals, with effect from 1 July 2002,
bringing his broad experience at national level and as a former Senior
Policy Adviser, to this key Cluster. As Executive Director, External
Relations and Governing Bodies, Dr Asamoa-Baah has taken forward
several
noteworthy innovations including the Country Focus and Civil Society
initiatives, and the creation of a new Department for Government and
Private Sector Relations.
