Response to Promoting RUD
-------------------------

Dear Usha,

Congratulations on taking a definitive positive step. I think that all
of your suggestions are worth while and should be taken up. However,
the need for creating awareness about RUD is of paramount importance.
However regrettable, the medical representatives are the main source of
information for the private practitioners.

So, I think a series of seminars, with wide publicity through the press
is one way of reaching a lot of practitioners.

Posting through the web is a good idea, but it will reach largely the
converted, as those who are not aware of RUD are unlikely to look at
the web.

Could we also think of a pharmaceuticals-public partnership on this
issue - does this seem too far fetched?

Lastly, the MGR Med university, and my department would be happy to
organize these seminars.

Manjula
