About the IP Handbook

The Handbook with the companion Executive Guide, and this website, have been
developed by many dedicated individuals with the intent of making a resource
available to the global community for putting intellectual property to work.
The entire effort was overseen by an international Editorial Board.

Prepared by and for policymakers, leaders of public sector research
establishments, technology transfer professionals, licensing executives, and
scientists, this resource offers up-to-date information and strategies for
utilizing the power of both intellectual property and the public domain.

Eschewing ideological debates and general proclamations, the authors of the
Handbook, companion Executive Guide and this website always keep the focus
on the practical side of IP management. The companion Executive Guide
distills best practices related to each of the major topics. They are
presented in brief, simple lists that address the concerns of policymakers,
heads of universities and R&D centers, scientists, and technology transfer
officers.

We hope these resources uniquely contribute to efforts in global health and
food security and the use of the Handbook and Executive Guide are endorsed
by many distinguished individuals from our Board of Patrons.

The Handbook and Executive Guide are distributed for free to low- and
middle-income countries (subject to availability of funding and support for
distribution) thanks to the Distribution Support of many organizations.

This website was developed by Dynamic Diagrams, Inc. with specific funding
from the Rockefeller Foundation, and is based on the Handbook published by
MIHR and PIPRA, and the Executive Guide published by MIHR, PIPRA, Fiocruz,
and bioDevelopments-International Institute. For complete acknowledgements,
