E-farmacos: El BMJ y la medicalizacion

Estimados colisteros,

El tema central del ultimo numero del British Medical Journal esta
dedicado a la medicalizacion con una serie de editoriales y articulos en
la seccion educacion y debate.

En el primer articulo "Selling sickness: the pharmaceutical industry and
disease mongering" los autores comentan como la industria farmaceutica
"crea" enfermedades para vender medicamentos. Se ponen ejemplos, 
aclarando que no son fruto de una revision sistematica de la literatura,
tales como: la alopecia androgenetica, el sindrome de intestino
irritable (con sus sintomas menores y una agencia de publicidad), el 
estallido de la fobia social, la osteoporosis y sus difusos criterios
diagnosticos (y como se medicalizan los factores de riesgo) y el
infaltable sildenafil.
