E-DRUG: Folic acid 5 or 0.4 mg for spina bifida prophylaxis? (3)
----------------------------------------------------------------

Salam Dears,

In response to a latest query made by one of our E-druggers regarding Folic Acid use in Spina Bifida: I would like to tell that Folic Acid may not be able to make any difference if Spina Bifida has already developed.

For dose concerning prevention, for chances if any; then the Folic Acid + Iron compositions available in Pakistan, may work best. Even if 5mg Folic Acid is not absorbed as whole up to 90% of it is excreted within 24 hours. So 5mg Folic Acid may also be taken.
