E-DRUG: Can we standardise the pharmaceuticals' mark-up on cost? (12)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-druggers,
It is critical that the issue of Mark up is discussed critically. I concur with Giuliano that countries should conduct pricing survey to understand the market within a specific region. However, we should not end up on disseminating the results in seminars and workshops. Probably policy makers (MOH, Drug regulatory authorities) professional bodies and civil societies should sit together to put common strategies on implementing the proposal of controlling the price.
On the other hand, we need to empower the community so that they should know the suggested retail price through printing it on the package, IEC materials.
Lastly, countries should take initiatives to control price especially in private sector when the global efforts are inclined toward distribution of subsidized ACTs through private sector.
