E-DRUG: RFI: Some practical questions from the field
----------------------------------------------------
Dear E-druggers,
1. Sometimes we run short of some pediatric vaccines for instance Havrix, a Hepatitis A vaccine. Besides the cost issue, is there any problem with using the adult 1 ml Vaccine, and giving it to 2 children, 0.5 ml each?
2. Adalat CC marketing agents have now replaced it with Adalat LA, claiming that both are similar. Data shows they work on similar principles of controlled release. Can they be easily interchanged? What does CC stand for?
3. The surfactant used for preterm neonates for proper lung functioning is quite expensive.. Around 500$ per vial.. The worst part is that only a few mls of the 8 ml vial is used, and the poor parents end up paying the whole sum to save their baby. Is there any data of stability of reconstituted surfactant? A safe and re-use practice? So it could be used for others and decrease the cost on the parent?
4. Can Bisphosphonates be the drug of choice in pediatric osteoporosis?
The literature says: immunoglobulins, erythropoietin?
Looking forward to your replies,
Regards,
