E-DRUG: Doxycycline induced oesophagitis (2)
--------------------------------------------

Dear Mark,

Interesting to know that apart from Alendronate and the biphosphonate group of medications given for the indication of osteoporosis, doxycycline also causes oesophagitis when lying down.

For the biphosphates, the warning has been included into the Summary of Product Chracteristics (SPC) and HCP have also been made aware of this situation. A clear guidance on how to take the medication is presented in the SPC.

It will be interesting if you have a case series of doxyciline induced oesophagitis, which you could then publish in one of the widely read Pharmacovigilance Journals. Would be happy to know more about it.
