E-DRUG: Doxycycline induced oesophagitis
--------------------------------------------------
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has encountered cases of doxycycline-induced esophagitis related to taking this medication just before sleeping or when administered to those bed ridden by malaria? Has anyone seen any research on the prevalence of esophagitis related to this or other medications when taken lying down ?
I suspect that warnings alerting patients not to lay down until 30 minutes have elapsed since taking doxycycline are not given to patients by many practitioners. I have just documented cases of serious esophagitis occuring among adolescents using the medication for acne, and now wonder about all those taking doxycycline for malaria?
