E-DRUG: Doha Plus Five Lunch Discussion 14 Nov in Geneva
--------------------------------------------------------
Invitation to a Lunch Discussion
Access to Medicines Five Years After Doha
Where Are We, and What is the Way Forward?
Medecins Sans Frontieres, together with the Consumer Project on Technology,
Third World Network, Health Action International, World AIDS Campaign and
Oxfam would like to invite you to attend a discussion on access to
medicines five years after the signing of the Doha Declaration on TRIPS and
Public Health at the 2001 WTO Ministerial meeting in Qatar. The objective
of the Doha Declaration was to ensure that trade rules did not stand in the
way of access to essential medicines. Five years down the road, it's time
to take stock and examine whether Doha has held its promise to 'protect
public health' and 'promote access to medicines for all,' and what the
options are for moving forward.
Panelists and discussants will include country representatives,
international organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO)
and the World Trade Organization (WTO), and NGOs.
