E-DRUG: Managment of fever in children in an outpatient setting
---------------------------------------------------

Dear colleagues
There is an increasing demand for supply and use of intramuscular paracetamol Injection for the managment of high fever in children, especially in outpatient settings. Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin) injection is used in adults for both pain and fever. What are other people doing out there for children? Is this the best option?

[If the child cannot take tablets, Norway would use syrup or suppositories. We only use injection occasionally for postoperative pain treatment. I cannot think of any reason for giving parenteral therapy for fever. KM]
