E-DRUG: Problem based learning (3)
----------------------------------------
Dear Sarita
I think it is important that Problem Based Learning used in teaching uses scenarios that are relevant to each setting. Of course there will be some commonality with problems but there are some that are unique to your setting.
You can get ideas from others and adapt others' scenarios to your own setting. But I think the best one are those that are related to the local culture and problems. Students
and colleagues should be able to think up situations that cause problems - from the central level right out to the remote levels.
Example: Pharmacists in a hospital (or anywhere) have the perception
that it is culturally inappropriate to question a senior prescriber.
A certain prescriber often prescribes outside the hospital's standard
protocols. What can be done?
Perhaps e-drug colleagues could send you one or two examples of scenarios they have used. Even when they are not quite relevant, they can trigger an idea for something that is relevant.
(Please send responses directly to Sarita Boolell <sarita_ph@yahoo.com>)
Best wishes
