e-drug: Motivating Pharmacists for Enhanced Contribution in Healthcare (2)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

George

I agree with many of the points that you have made. I believe that it is
essential that pharmacists are given, and accept their unique niche in
patient management. I distinguish betweeen a medical diagnosis, the
preserve of doctors, and a pharmaceutical diagnosis, the preserve of
pharmacists. Only pharmacists are uniquely qualified to identify,
predict, prevent and/or respond to drug related problems.

Equating salaries with doctors will help pharmacists to take ownership
of this role but in many cases, this will not be enough. Other forms of
recognition are required and all pharmacists have to commit
themselves to this role - not just a few.

My concern is that those pharmacists who grumble will carry on doing
so, irrespective of their salaries.

cheers
Billy
