E-DRUG: RFI: STI clinic supply management
-----------------------------------------

dear E-druggers,

I am in the process of formulating some guidance for sexually
transmitted disease clinics in India to help them manage their drug and
other supplies better. I have been unable to locate advice specifically
focussed on clinic level - most of the advice I have linked to is about
national supply system management, or about contraceptive commodities,
so I will have to adapt these if I can't find anything "ready-made" that
is appropriate.

Can any of my fellow e-druggers link me to any up-to-date guidance or
standard operating procedures for STI clinics which are sourcing their
own supplies?

The drugs are quite readily available from local pharmacy suppliers,
with a 3-5 day lead time. The advice they need is mainly about
local-level stock management and forecasting when demand for services is
increasing. They are currently only treating STIs, using syndromic
management and patient-ready colour-coded packs of medicines that are
handed out by clinic staff at the time of seeing the patient. However,
they are likely to expand their services soon into HIV care, especially
treatment of opportunistic infections, so it is all the more important
that we get the supply management procedures well-established before
this happens.

Thanks in advance for any help!
