The Axios Group (http://www.axios-group.com) is an international
organization that specializes in improving access to health care in
developing countries.
The group consists of a dynamic multidisciplinary team with distinctive
areas of expertise including public health, social science, operational
research, and business models for developing countries. Axios' field
programs include innovative projects on prevention of mother-to-child
transmission (PMTCT), access to voluntary counseling and testing (VCT),
access to HIV care, multisectoral programs for orphans and vulnerable
children (OVC), rehabilitation of tertiary care structures and building
institutional capacity for prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such
as cancer and AIDS. Axios also administers a growing number of interactive,
service-oriented web-based donation and access programs for developing
countries.
Currently, the Axios Group is seeking qualified candidates for the following
two employment opportunities.
1). Program Director, Drug Donations
Kampala, Uganda
Axios is seeking a Program Director to assume the overall strategic and
technical supervision of the implementation of drug donations and access
programs targeting Africa and other Developing Countries. He/she will be
responsible for the expansion of the network of institutions involved in
drug access and donation programs at country and regional levels. The
Program Director will also be responsible for development and implementation
of audit methodologies to assess the capacity and performance of drug
delivery systems.
The Program Director will work closely with Project Managers in drug
donation programs and report to the VP Operations. The position is based in
Kampala, Uganda and requires substantial international travel.
The following qualifications and experience are required:
* At least a master's degree in medicine, pharmacy, a health science
related field or public health
* At least 7 years project management and practical experience in
health care related projects in developing countries
* Experience in logistics and HIV/AIDS related fields
* Ability to work with international organizations, government
officials, non-governmental organizations and the private sector
* Strong computer skills
* Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
* Fluency in oral and written English, knowledge of French is an added
advantage
Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and
experience. The position is available to Ugandan and foreign (expatriates)
nationals.

2). Executive Director, Abuja, Nigeria
Axios is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to oversee the overall operation
and functioning of the Axios Nigeria projects. He/She will provide technical
support to programs and will be responsible for quality control and
assurance of the drug logistics aspects of the PEPFAR funded Program. This
role also entails the management of the foundation's in-country functional
departments such as finance, administration, human resources, operations,
drug logistics and R&D/M&E. The ED will represent Axios' corporate vision
and position Axios as a premier bridge of private and public sector
collaborations in strengthening drug logistics systems.
The ED will directly report to the President of the Axios Foundation and
functionally to the VP Operations. The position will be based in Abuja,
Nigeria.
The following qualifications and experience are required:
* Advanced degree in public health, pharmacy or related field
* At least 10-15 years professional experience in managing multiple
public health programs, particularly in drug logistics and supply chain
management
* Proven program management experience in HIV/AIDS related field
* Excellent management and leadership skills
* Good command of financial and budget management
* Intimate knowledge of the health system in Nigeria and deep
understanding of the political economy of pharmaceutical policy and access
with specific reference to HIV/AIDS
* Diplomatic skills are necessary to interact with a range of people
on different levels and with various cultural backgrounds
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
* Fluency in English and ability to work in an international environment
* Computer literate
* Results driven
