E-DRUG: RFI: doxycycline agelimits and quinine malaria dosages (2)
------------------------------------------------------------------

dear E-druggers

Previous day exposure to all Arylaminoalcohols including Quinine, Quinidine and Mefloquine is a contraindication to the use of loading dose IV Quinine. This contraindication does not include chloroquine which is a 4-Aminoquinoline. It will be interesting to know if there is any documented ADR, particularly cardiotoxicity and hypotension involving chloroquine when used this way.

I have a presentation I made some time back: Side effects of SP and Quinine- Need for pharmacovigilance. Let me know if you are interested and I will mail to you.
