Course on Tropical Medicine

Dear Sir/Madam,

We would like to inform you that the Ivo de Carneri Foundation organizes the
third international training course "Challenges of Tropical Medicine in the
Third Millennium" (TMTM) in  May - July 2005. The course, taught in English,
is addressed to health care staff (physicians, nurses and health care
workers) coming from EU and Developing Countries. The course is structured
in three modules, the first two in Italy and the third one on Pemba Island
(Tanzania), according to the following topics:
1) Control of major endemic parasitic diseases and response to
epidemics (9 - 20 May 2005)
2) HIV Infection, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Tuberculosis (20
June - 1 July 2005)
3) Public health priorities in Sub-saharan Africa (2 - 16 July 2005)

Each module lasts two weeks. A period of internship lasting four weeks (23
May - 17 June) in an Italian teaching hospital/University in between the two
modules is given to selected trainees coming from developing countries. The
site for the first module is the University of Ancona, for the second module
the University of Brescia. The third module will be hosted at the Public
Health Laboratory Ivo de Carneri on Pemba Island, Zanzibar.

To facilitate the attendance of participants from Developing Countries,
scholarships for the full coverage of the entire course (travel expenses,
full board and accomodation) are provided for all three modules and the
internship period. We can guarantee the support to 15 participants from
Developing Countries. There are still some places available; we therefore
encourage young and motivated candidates from Developing Countries to send
us their CVs with reference letter.
Selected participants from Italy might also benefit from scholarships.
