E-DRUG: When is quality and safety assured? (4)
------------------------------------------------

This discussion has important relevance to HIV/AIDS care and adherence monitoring and measurement. ART inpatients taking own prescribed Meds brought from home improves adherence measurement. This is because most Infectious Disease Care Clinics in less developed countries do not have integrated patient management systems that can add medications patient received outside their clinics or from where-ever, into the patient case file/medication history. Also treatment experienced ART patients [who are able to] should rather be encouraged to continue with their preadmission dosing times for their ARVs, this is because Nurses have their own schedule for drug administration to patients and those times do not satisfy all admitted patients.
