There are two bursaries available for international
delegates (will cover 75% of the course fees,
accommodation fees and your travel) and another two
bursaries for UK-based delegates (will cover 50% of
the course fees and accommodation fees) for the
following "training of trainers" workshop.

CASPuk Training Week 2004
In association with the CASP International Network
**************************************************
Dates: 12th - 16th July 2004
Venue: Linton Lodge Hotel, Oxford, UK

Each year CASP runs a Training Week that is attended
and enjoyed by health care professionals from the
across the UK and around the world. Trainers from the
CASP International Network will enhance the learning
opportunities with their experience of evidence-based
practice around the world.

~Aim~
By the end of this course, participants will be able
to critically appraise research evidence and to
facilitate effective critical appraisal skills
training.

~Objectives~
Opportunities will be provided for participants to:
- Enhance understanding of using evidence-based
practice in health and social care
- Develop skills in appraising quantitative or
qualitative research literature
- Develop facilitation skills for critical appraisal
workshops
- Develop mechanisms in supporting the dissemination
of appraisal training
- Enhance understanding of obstacles to change and
ways of managing change.

~Programme~
The programme is built around the core principles of
evidence-based practice. Participants are asked to
choose from one of the following study tracks:
quantitative pathway or qualitative pathway.
Participants will focus on their chosen strand of
research literature as they progress through the
critical appraisal process - from finding the evidence
to managing change in the workplace. However, a brief
introductory session to the other strand is also

~Course Fees~
Course fees: £950 (GBP)
This also includes a comprehensive study pack, lunch
every day and a farewell evening dinner at the
Cherwell Boathouse (www.cherwellboathouse.co.uk).

~Accommodation~
The week will be held at Linton Lodge Hotel, Oxford.
Accommodation will be available for delegates at a
rate of £300 (GBP) for the week. This would be on a
bed & breakfast basis. The hotel is about 15-20
minute walk from the centre of Oxford and there are
good, regular bus links as well.
