E-drug: confusions on prescription serving (7)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Rene,

I am a Dutch pharmacist and worked for many years in different pharmacies.
At this moment I am working for the WHO in Haiti to promote Rational Drug
Prescribing.

Your approach to "Prescription Security" is exactly the official Dutch
policy for Dutch Pharmacies. Maybe with one exception: we are OBLIGATED to
have the patient's full medication-history for a time period of five years.
Thus we can monitor exactly the patients profile, illnesses,
contra-indications, co-morbidity and previous prescriptions. In this way
it's quite easy to figure out the prescribed medication and dosage.

About the 3-2-1-2-1-2-1 issue:

In the Netherlands, this system is ONLY used for the exact usage of
Acenocoumarol week by week, day by day.

I think your doing a real good job! Do you have an automated drug-monitoring
system as well?

Best Regards,

Mechiel Weits
