A dedicated and responsible manager is required for the South East African
Combination Antimalarial Therapy (SEACAT) evaluation, a regional
collaboration
including the Ministry of Health of Mozambique, the Medical Research Council
of South Africa and the University of Cape Town, with financial support from
the UNDP / World Bank / WHO TDR and the Global Fund "Malaria Control in the
Lubombo Spatial Development Initiative Area" . This project aims to support
the implementation of combination therapy for the management of
uncomplicated
malaria, initially in Namaacha and Matutuine Districts, Maputo Province,
Mozambique. The drug manager will be responsible for the overall management
and ensuring supply of antimalarial combination therapy within the public
sector in the above districts. Over 4 years this will be expanded to seven
districts. The manager will be responsible for the ordering and distribution
of the antimalarial combination therapy, supervision of stock
control,developing and implenent training programmes and assessment
methodology as well as liasing with different levels of the national and
provincial pharmaceutical services, and preparing quarterly reports on drug
supply management.
Applicants should be qualified pharmacists and a certificate / experience in
management would be advantageous. Two years prior experience in drug supply
management is required, with proven ability to coordinate drug supply
services, forecast drug requirements and supervise others.
Additional requirements:
· Fluent in Portuguese and English
· Basic Computer Literacy (Word processing, Spreadsheet)
· Drivers license
The drug manager will initially be appointed for 12 months, with possibility
of annual renewal for up to 5 years. Salary will be competitive, and
depends
on qualifications and prior experience. The successful applicant will be
based
in Matola and will be expected to travel extensively throughout the project
area.
