FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

International Training Course on Pharmacoeconomics:
Evidence, Money and Drug Selection
29 November - 8 December 2003
Isfahan, Islamic Republic of IRAN

The 7th International Training Course on Pharmacoeconomics:
Evidence, Money and Drug Selection will be held in Isfahan, one of
the most famous cultural cities of Iran. The course will focus on
principles and techniques of pharmaco-economics, and how these
tools may be used on rational selecting of drugs for use in health
care systems. The course has been developed by departments of
clinical pharmacology and public health at the universities of
Newcastle (Australia), Sydney (Australia) and Birmingham (UK) in
collaboration with WHO/EDM.

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Isfahan
University of Medical Sciences, in collaboration with the Iran
Ministry of Health and WHO, will host the 7th course. The course is
problem-based and facilitated by international and national experts.
The course will be conducted in English and will consist of small
group sessions presentations and discussions. It is highly
participatory, and the exchange of experiences and ideas among
participants adds depth to the learning process. Participants should
therefore be working in some aspect of the academic or public
health sector responsible for selection of pharmaceuticals for
essential and or national lists or hospital formularies.

Fees and Application
The fee of 2000 US$ for double occupancy and 2200 US$ for
single occupancy covers tuition, course materials, breakfast and
lunch, and travel between venues. Airfare and health insurance are
the responsibility of participants or the sponsoring organization.
Applications and fees are due no later than Oct. 30, 2003. Due to
limited seats available, applicants are encouraged to apply earlier.
