E-drug: Re: Independence of pharmacy inspection
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Duangtip,
Thank you for raising such an important issue. In this context I
would like to inform you that pharmacists working as drug
inspectors in India are barred from being involved in the pharmacy
business. Drug inspectors are appointed under Section 21 of the
Drugs & Cosmetics Act. One of the conditions for such appoint-
ment (section 21/3) is that "No person who has any financial
interest [in the import, manufacture or sale of drugs or cosmetics]
shall be appointed to be an Inspector under this section". I would
be extremely happy if e-druggers from different countries inform me
about the situation of their country.
Regards,
Subhash C. Mandal, M.Pharm., Ph. D.(Pharm.)
