E-drug: Article in Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A powerful article written about the difference AR drugs could
make in Africa was forwarded to us at ImpAcTAIDS, and we would
be really interested to know more about the Malawi project which is
supplying the treatment to those who can pay the one dollar which
makes the difference between life and death! We, as you may be
aware already, are a British based group which is campaigning to
get AR drugs made available in resource poor countries, and want
to publicise as widely as possible all the success stories of those
who have access. By doing this we hope to be able to push for
greater commitment to the possibility of getting everyone who
needs treatment into programmes, irrespective of what their income
is. What I did read and was pretty worried to see was that there
had been some sort of problem in delivery of the drugs to the
centre: do you know anything about this? Our argument is that if
power is given to the community groups rather than trying to
organise things from the top down, there will not be the same
problems: those who are involved will make sure that the treatment
works! Keep up your good work, and do if you have a chance,
check our website: www.impactaids.org.uk and give us some
feedback on what you think of it and our aims.
