E-drug: Job opportunity: Campaigns Director for HAI Europe Office
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear E-druggers,

Some time ago we posted the below vacancy announcement for a
Campaigns Director for Health Action International's European office.
As a result, we received several applications of promising candidates,
but unfortunately the 'right one' was not amongst them.

Especially after the successes of the recent World Health Assembly,
HAI Europe has an exiting agenda of activities, related to developing
and promoting HAI's policy through advocacy and campaign work.
Campaigns will focus on international issues such as access to
essential medicines, unethical drug promotion, direct to consumer
advertising, and the impact of private/public interactions. Given the
importance of these issues, HAI cannot allow delays in their
implementation and we now decided to step up our search activities
for a Campaigns Director. Ideally we would like to employ a candidate
for a longer period of time, but if this is not possible we are willing to
consider interim solutions.

We would like to ask you the following:

1. Review the post description below and consider your own interest;
2. Send us names and contact information of people who may be
interested in this post, and forward this mail to them;
3. Inform us about people who would possibly be interested in filling
this post on an interim basis as soon as possible, and we will contact
them ourselves.

Your help is very much appreciated!

Best regards,

Hilbrand Haak
Anita Hardon

HAI EUROPE SEEKS A CAMPAIGNS DIRECTOR

Health Action International (HAI) is an international, informal network
of public interest groups and individuals working to promote the
essential drugs concept, access to essential medicines and rational
drug use. The network has regional offices for Europe, Latin America,
Africa and Asia. The HAI Europe office, based in Amsterdam, is
looking for a dynamic and skilled person to coordinate its advocacy
and campaign work.

This post's key responsibilities include developing and promoting HAI
policy through advocacy and campaign work in association with HAI
Europe members, cooperating with the other HAI regions, and with
external strategic partners. This work will be done in close
co-operation with other members of the HAI Europe office staff. The
Campaigns Director will also assist in fundraising efforts and work to
identify issues relevant to HAI Europe's mission and its current and
potential work programmes.

Current campaigns include international issues such as access to
essential medicines, unethical drug promotion, direct to consumer
advertising, and the impact of private/public interactions. Special
attention will be given to European aspects of these topics.

The Campaigns Director is expected to have proven project
management skills and extensive lobbying experience. Analytical skills
relevant to policy development are also essential. The preferred
applicant should have experience in effective network communication
and consultation, and working with the media. Clear and convincing
written and oral communication is also needed. Fluency in English is
essential and an understanding of other European languages is
desirable. Familiarity with the HAI network and the European Union is
an advantage.

HAI Europe offers a competitive salary in a pleasant, informal working
environment. This senior position is for 32 hours per week and some
travel will be required. The Campaigns Director reports to the HAI
Europe Coordinator. EU residents are encouraged to apply.

For more information or a copy of the job description, please contact
HAI Europe at the address below.

Applicants should send their CV in English with a cover letter outlining
their relevant experience for this position to:
