Dear E-druggers,

Believe it or not, in Thailand, phenylbutazone is registered as 
prescription
combination drugs, and with various categories and indications (coded from 
MIMS
Thailand 3rd 2000):

1. Muscle relaxant: three brands with the same formula as carisoprodol 125 
mg +
phenylbutazone 125 mg but with difference indications:
- pain & stiffness in muscles & joints; to restore normal functional 
movement in
musculoskeletal disorders
- pain & stiffness in muscle & joint
- Pain & stiffness in muscles & joints, RA, ankylosing spondylitis, 
osteoarthritis,
peri-arthritis.

2. Antirheumatic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic: with four formula
- Phenylbutazone Na 200 mg + lidocaine HCl 10 mg as injection for anti-
inflammation in RA, spondylitis, gout, osteoarthritis & similar condition 
of ligament
bone & joint.
- Phenylbutazone 200 mg + dipyrone 100 mg indicated as acute RA, muscular
inflammation, gout w/ pain.
- twin amps for injection with amp A = Phenylbutazone Na 400 mg + o-
carbamoylphenoxyacetic acids 150 mg + dexamethasone 4 mg + lidocaine HCl 4
mg and amp. B = Vit B12 2500 ug  + lidocaine HCl 2 mg indicated as acute
rheumatism, particularly arthrosis, spondylosis, osteochondrosis, lumbago,
scialtica , cervical syndrome.
- rectocap = phenylbutazone 200 mg + vit.B12 2000 ug + dexamethasone 1 mg

There is one external phenylbutazone 5% w/w+ methysalicylate 15%w/v 
indicated
as inflammatory & degenerative forms of rheumatism, musculoskeletal 
disorder.

I beleive there are more than the ones I coded.  So drug re-evaluation is 
urgent
needed for Thailand.

Phenylbutazone is available in Pakistan on prescription and without it.
Liscenced indications is arthritis and pain. Strengths available are 100 mg 
and
200 mg. Its registered brands are Pharmazone, and Wilzolid. Both are 
locally
manufactured. It is also available in generic forms.
