E-drug: Generic quality (cont)
---------------------------------------------
Dear Mohga:

I think that you have to differentiate between generic products made in
developed countries versus those made in developing countries. Itís hard
to make the argument about generic inferiority in developed countries
and from what I have seen most multinationals have stopped trying to do
this, there are however exceptions as the Boots/Knoll episode with
generic thyroid medication points out. The FDA web site has a number of
commentaries about generic products see
<www.fda.gov/cder/news/ntiletter.htm>.
>From what I have seen most of the claims about inferior generic
products have been made about products originating from developing
countries like India and China. I don't know of any literature that
has systematically evaluated the quality of these products.
