E-DRUG: Wanted - Director, Poison Control Centre, Sultanate of Oman

Applications are invited for the following post by the Ministry of
Health in the Sultanate of Oman. Oman is a progressive country with
breathtaking scenery and many opportunities for outdoor activities such
as swimming, scuba diving, photography etc.
DIRECTOR OF POISON CONTROL CENTRE
Tax free salary + accommodation +48 days' holiday + excellent benefits
Position requirements are a Pharmacist with a postgraduate degree in
Clinical Toxicology or a Doctor with a specialist qualification in
Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine or, alternatively, candidates
could have 10 years experience in the field of poison information
services, poison management and administration.
The selected applicant should be able to: · Establish the poison
information centre. · Supervise and lead the appointed staff. · Run
different administrative tasks of the centre. · Collect case data and
prepare data bases (on chemical, pharmaceutical and natural toxins). ·
Draw up plans to further develop the information service and promote its
activities. · Co-ordinate with other authorities inside or outside the
Ministry of Health in response to toxicovigilance findings to improve
certain practices and reduce poisoning incidences. · Maintain strong
links with national and international organisations involved in the area
of poison information and control. · Organise relevant training courses
and workshops. Salary is according to qualifications and experience.
There is no income tax levied in Oman.
Benefits include free, furnished (hard furnishings only) air conditioned
accommodation. Economy Class air tickets are provided for the employee,
wife and up to three children (under the age of 21), on initial
appointment and on final exit. 75% of the cost of an Economy Class air
ticket is paid for annual leave once during the contractural year. Paid
annual leave is 48 days. Allowances will be given for transport, water
and electricity when these are not provided free by the Ministry.
Medical treatment within the Sultanate is free. The contract is for one
year and is renewable annually if agreeable to both parties.
